Comfort & Belonging

At Sandhills School, students feel at home. From the moment they walk through our doors, they experience the comfort of belonging and the joy of learning in a way that fits their unique needs.

“At my old school, I felt lost in the crowd. Here, I finally feel understood.”
— Maya, Class of ‘28

Confidence through Personalized Instruction

Our small classes provide students with personalized attention and individualized instruction from expert teachers trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach. This multisensory method helps students build confidence in areas like reading, writing, and math while also developing critical executive functioning skills, especially in middle and high school.

What Makes Our Teachers Different?

All Sandhills teachers are trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach. We combine expertise with empathy, helping students gain the tools and confidence to succeed in and beyond the classroom.

A Balanced School Day

Unlike many students with dyslexia who spend extra time on tutoring or catch-up work, Sandhills students enjoy a balanced school day. They have the time and opportunity to participate in intramural and interscholastic clubs and sports—so they never have to miss out on the fun.

Removing Barriers and Building Strengths

Our teachers remove traditional learning barriers and focus on building strengths. By reducing the stress of homework and prioritizing meaningful learning, students develop not only academically but also as well-rounded individuals. At Sandhills, students make real progress toward their goals, closing the gap between their potential and their achievements.

“My child used to dread school, but now they come home excited to tell me about what they’ve learned.”
