Why I love Sandhills
“I enjoy the smallness of the classrooms which allows me to know and understand my students well. Also, the supportive staff and administration.”
Trudy began her teaching career in both public and private school settings before homeschooling her children for 10 years. After relocating to South Carolina and pursuing her teaching certification, she was introduced to Sandhills by a friend and knew it was the right fit. The supportive environment and student-focused approach have kept her here ever since.
Why I Enjoy Working with Students with Dyslexia
“Using a program (OG) that promotes confidence and success in students who have experienced so much failure is incredibly rewarding.”
Trudy is passionate about helping students rebuild their confidence through Orton-Gillingham instruction and celebrating their growth in both academics and self-esteem.
Favorite School Tradition
- Field Day: Trudy loves the energy and joy Field Day brings to campus. Watching students get excited and enjoy a day full of fun and movement is always a highlight.
Life Outside of School
When she’s not teaching, Trudy enjoys playing pickleball, line dancing, and walking on nature trails. She also loves exploring Columbia’s restaurant scene and finding unique places to eat with family and friends.
