Journey to Sandhills
Gabrielle has taught in New Orleans, New York City, and now Columbia, SC. Her experience includes teaching Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade, Reading Intervention, and Special Education. When her husband took a position at USC, she looked for a school in South Carolina where she could continue working with students in a supportive, literacy-focused environment—and found that at Sandhills.
What I Value About the Sandhills Community
“I love the flexibility teachers have to individualize instruction for each student.”
Gabrielle appreciates the supportive, student-centered approach at Sandhills. She values how small class sizes and a strong school culture allow her to truly connect with her students and tailor instruction to their needs.
A Favorite Lesson to Teach
Gabrielle loves teaching “Magic E.” With so many playful ways to introduce the concept, she enjoys watching her students light up as they discover the “magic” behind how words work.
Life Outside of School
When she’s not in the classroom, Gabrielle enjoys walking the riverwalk, dining on Main Street, and grabbing a sweet treat at Sweet Cream.
