Journey to Sandhills

Dianne started her teaching career as a nutrition educator, working with youth and adults for eight years before homeschooling her four children. Through homeschool co-ops and resource centers, she taught science and elementary music, gaining hands-on experience in differentiated instruction. In 2015, a friend suggested she apply to Sandhills. She began as an Aftercare teacher and substitute, joining the staff full-time the following year.

“I love the freedom to tailor my classes to my students' needs and the strong collaboration among the staff. I never feel micromanaged—I feel supported.”

Why I Love Working with Students with Dyslexia

Dianne has a personal connection to learning differences—dyslexia runs in her family. She’s passionate about helping students build confidence, recognize their strengths, and discover their potential.

“Students are recognized for their potential, not their problems.”

Favorite School Tradition

  • Capstone Presentations: Dianne loves watching students stand up with confidence and share their growth stories, especially those who once struggled with self-expression.

Life Outside of School

Before the school day starts, Dianne is busy tending to her animals—milking her goat and feeding her chickens, ducks, and turkeys. It’s a rhythm she loves. Her weekends often include family time and musical moments.
