Why I Love Sandhills

“Sandhills is a school that doesn’t just say they do great things. They are actually changing the world through the opportunities students and teachers have.”

After seven years in Title I public schools, Catie was looking for a place where she could make learning accessible and joyful for all students. She found that—and more—at Sandhills. Drawn to the school’s mission and passion for kids, she knew she had found the right place. “I was searching for a school that had a passion for kids, and man did I find it!”

Why I Love Working with Students with Dyslexia

Catie is passionate about making learning accessible to all students. Her work with students whose primary language is not English, as well as children with autism at summer camps, has deepened her appreciation for neurodiversity and individualized instruction. At Sandhills, she sees daily growth—and the spark of confidence that comes with it.

A Favorite Lesson to Teach

Catie’s favorite lessons focus on character emotions and helping students connect those emotional insights to their own daily experiences. She brings creativity and heart into the classroom, using hands-on learning to make concepts both meaningful and personal.

What I Value About the Sandhills Community

“It is an arms open wide community.”

Sandhills offers more than a teaching position—it offers a place where students and teachers alike are embraced for who they are and supported in becoming who they’re meant to be.
