Criteria for Admission
Sandhills School admits students in grades first through eleventh with an average to superior intelligence with a diagnosed language-based learning difference, including dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia. Applicants should have a current (within three years) psycho-educational evaluation which must include an individual intelligence test such as the WISC III. Sandhills School cannot accept students who have primary emotional or behavioral issues, Bi-polar disorder, or Pervasive Developmental Disorder.
Applicants can apply throughout the year, and will be considered for admission on a rolling basis as vacancies become available.

Process for
Admission
The following steps are necessary to be considered for admission:
- Schedule an appointment to meet with administration to tour the school, discuss the prospective student's educational needs, and to learn more about Sandhills. Parents will be asked to fax or mail the student's current psycho-educational testing prior to this initial appointment. This gives the admissions committee an opportunity to learn more about your child.
- Submit an application along with the $75 application fee.
- Schedule a student visit. Student visits are typically scheduled for 8:15 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Visiting students have the opportunity to shadow a current Sandhills student, visit four class periods, and take part in a scheduled break in order to get to know other Sandhills students. Student visits are always scheduled after the initial parent visit.
- Have your child's current teacher complete our teacher recommendation form.
- Provide current school transcripts, health records, and immunization forms. Parents must sign a release form included in the admission packet in order for Sandhills to obtain these records.
- Provide other service reports as applicable, such as occupational or speech therapy.
